Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
