Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
