Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, producing strong winds hitting 109 kilometers per hour.

Substantial Hailstones and Broad Damage

Homeowners reported large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to address the widespread outages.

Victoria's Climate Difficulties

At the same time, approximately one thousand energy customers in Victoria also experienced energy failures after Melbourne recorded its most precipitation in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

• Wyndham region - nearly 180 calls for assistance
